Getting Started with Javascript Development

There are a plethora of resources on the web devoted to javascript development. Here are some of the books that have really helped me in my career as a developer.

Eloquent Javascript - An introduction to Modern Programming
This book is brilliant. Firstly, it’s available on-line for free as an e-book, which will allow you to go through the examples and evaluate the book before you buy the paper copy. Which is great as a reference.

Next up - Javascript Patterns by Stoyan Stefanov. Really good reference book. You need this book.

There’s also the classic by Douglas Crockford - Javascript, The Good Parts. Again, a great reference book, with a number of techniques that can be applied to real world professional javascript development.
